For liability purposes, EVERYONE that is on the 5k course must be registered. You do not have to run to participate as this event is geared toward walkers and runners alike. It’s a great course to walk, run, or both!
Yes, however the Autism Society Central Virginia is not liable for any incidents incurred with a wagon or stroller. ALL individuals out on the course must have completed a registration form either online or printed. Children ages 2 and younger are FREE, but still must have a completed registration on file in order to be on the course. We ask that runners/walkers with walkers and strollers start the race towards the back so that other runners and walkers can move without hindrance. This is a family event where we consider needs of all ages, but our first priority must be the safety of all runners and walkers.
No, for the safety of all involved, personal motorized vehicles are not allowed on the course. We do plan to provide a trolley for those walkers who would like to participate but may not be able to complete the course.
No, for the safety of all involved, we ask that pets not be brought to the 5K event.
Yes. This waiver is required of every participant… children too. Each person must have a signed waiver.
Registration opens on the Autism Society Central Virginia website on February 1, 2017.
From February 1st through February 15th you can register at the 2016 registration prices.
2017 prices will take effect on February 16, 2017.
Registration fees will increase after early bird pricing ends on April 15, 2017.
Online registration closes on May 24, 2017 at midnight.
The last opportunity to register is onsite at packet pickup on Friday, May 26, 2017.
$30 – Chip Timed Adult/Child age 11 and older ($35 after February 15th and $40 after April 16th)
$25 – Non Timed Adult/Child age 11 and older ($30 after February 15th and $35 after April 16th)
$15 – Chip Timed Child age 3 -10 yrs ($20 after February 15th)
$10 – Non Timed Child age 3-10 yrs ($15 after February 15th)
Free – Child 2 yrs old and under (but still must register to be on the course)
$50 – Virtual Participant (includes 5K beach towel that will be mailed to you)
A Virtual Participant is someone who wants to support the Autism Society Central VA 5K, but is unable to be at the event. This participant registers for the 5K as a Virtual Participant and can even have a online fundraising page and a virtual team if they choose. After the event, this participant will be mailed a beach towel with the 5K logo on it. And if you take and share vacation pictures with your towel, we will include them in the 2017 photo gallery!
The registration packet includes a participant’s t-shirt, race bib, and sponsor/exhibitor information. Packet pickup is on Friday, May 26th from 10am-7pm at the Markel 4600 Building (4600 Cox Road, Glen Allen). You may pick up race packets for friends and team members (please let them know if you are), but it is helpful if you know their names, and whether they registered for chip timing. Please coordinate with team members to avoid confusion and unnecessary trips.
NO. There is no ONSITE registration or ONSITE packet pick up the morning of the race.
Yes, and if you choose the chip-time option, your race time will be captured. The Richmond Road Runners Club processes all timed race results.
For those runners and walkers who would like their finish times to be officially recorded by Richmond Road Runners and their finish times to be part of the official results for the 5K, we are offering a Chip Timing option. Just select the “Chip Timed” option when you register. At packet pickup you will be given a bib number that has an electronic chip on the back of it. This will enable your race results to be officially timed and recorded. If you don’t choose Chip Timing, you will see your time on the clock at the finish, but your time will not be counted in the medal competition.

DAY OF THE EVENT
You can view the event timeline here. The event will begin at 8am the morning of Saturday, May 27th. The Kid’s Dash begins at 8:30am, and the 5K Run/Walk itself begins at 9am. All activities are usually over around 11am.
One of the fun activities we have in the KIDS ZONE is our Kid’s Dash. The Kid’s Dash starts at 8:30am and is a fun 50 yard dash just for kids! All participants are given a kid’s medal.
We will have a timeline for the entire 5K posted here soon. Before and after the race, please enjoy the refreshments, music and fun-filled KIDS ZONE. Please also take time to visit our many sponsors and exhibitors! You can expect May 27th to be a morning full of fitness and fun activities for all ages.
Yes! Seven (7) trophies will be awarded. All prizes are given out the morning of the race. The names of all prize winners will be shared on the 5K webpage. Trophies will be awarded for:
- Largest team
- Highest Fundraising by a Team
- Highest Individual Fundraiser
- The Don Mayfield Spirit Award
- Fastest overall female
- Fastest overall male
- Best Team T-Shirt
Yes, we will give out a medal to the fastest female and fastest male in each of the following categories:
