Support Groups

The ASCV offers support groups for family members who have a loved one with autism. These groups provide a sense of community and allow family members to connect with others who might be on a similar journey.

Support Groups for Caregivers of Children Ages 0-10 with Autism

The ASCV has two monthly support groups for caregivers who have a child 0-10 years old, one in Henrico and one in Chesterfield, to offer support and encouragement for families with younger children diagnosed with autism.

Where: Manchester YMCA, 7540 Hull Street Rd, North Chesterfield
When: Second Saturday of each month, 12:30-1:30 pm

Support Groups for Caregivers of Teens

These groups offer support and encouragement for families with teens diagnosed with autism and meet at the same time as the ASCV’s Teen Social Groups. Caregivers, parents, and family members are welcome to attend the support group whether their teen attends the social group, or not.

Where: Midlothian Family YMCA, 737 Coalfield Road, Midlothian
When: Second Friday of each month
            Middle School Parents: 6:00-7:00 pm
            High School Parents: 7:30-8:30 pm

Support Groups for Caregivers of Adults with Autism

This monthly support group for caregivers of adults on the spectrum offers an opportunity to share with others who have an adult child with autism.

Where: River Road United Methodist Church, 8800 River Road, Henrico
When: Last Monday of the Month, 7-8:30 pm

Sibshops

The ASCV hosts Sibshops, a program just for brothers and sisters of children with special needs, every other month. Sibshops provides an opportunity for siblings to obtain peer support and education in a fun, recreational environment. Siblings appreciate this special time dedicated to them, and the workshop often has a therapeutic effect on those who attend.

When: Every other month, Fall Dates: September 21 and November 16
Who: Siblings, ages 7-13, of a child with a special need.  Older siblings are encouraged to contact us to volunteer.
Where: Weinstein JCC 5403 Monument Ave, Richmond
