Family Access to Medical Insurance Security (FAMIS)
In 2024, Virginia enacted legislation requiring an amendment to its Medicaid State Plan to protect access to Developmental Disability (DD) Waivers—Family and Individual Support, Community Living, and Building Independence—by disregarding Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) income above the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) threshold ($967/month in 2025) when determining eligibility.
