22nd Annual ASCV 5K & Family Fun Day Raised $180,000 To Support Our Mission

The Autism Society of Central Virginia (ASCV) recently hosted its annual 5K & Family Fun Day event at Crump Park. On May 18, 2024, over 1,000 dedicated participants, sponsors, and vendors came together despite soggy weather, for a morning to honor and celebrate our local autism community.

Through the dedication and generosity of our fundraising teams, participants, sponsors, and community partners, we raised nearly $180,000! These funds will make a meaningful difference in expanding ASCV’s critical programs and services.

A record number of sponsors and resource vendors braved the rain, sharing resources and activities with our participants, including two sensory zones hosted by Attain ABA and Mosaic Pediatric Therapy, kids zone hosted by Compass Behavioral Group. A Place for Us Transportation kept our runners hydrated and our incredible volunteers entertained everyone along the route. A special thank you to our on-stage talent Jasmine Turner of 12 On Your Side, Kat Simons of Mix 98.1, DJ Captain Kirk, Caroline Bass, and Richmond Urban Dance for bringing energy and enthusiasm to the crowd.

90 total teams of friends, families, and colleagues joined together to raise over $100,000 from their networks, with our top overall team, Team bELIeve, raising an incredible $16,476 with 100 total team members!

Our event Co-Chair, Kefu Dorion, mom of 9-year-old Ty and team captain of Ty’s Trot, expressed, “A large crowd came out despite the pouring rain – it truly showcased how committed our community is!”

As we reflect on this year’s event, we’re truly grateful for the overwhelming support from our community. We extend a sincere thank you to everyone who took part, volunteered, sponsored, and backed the ASCV 5K & Family Fun Day. Your generosity and commitment have left a lasting impact. Thank you for being part of our mission to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with autism.
